Planar Kirchhoff rod model for a subsea anchor rope whose free end penetrates and settles within seabed sediment

This project is done as part of the Mechanics of Elastic Rods (ME-691-X) course by Prof. Harmeet Singh at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. Once I saw a ship lowering its anchor to come to a stop. That made me wonder, what would the rope look like? How will its shape change when the ship moves? And at what point will the rope touch the seabed?
